We are saddened to inform you of the death of Shelagh Tarleton. She said her final goodbyes yesterday at Michael Garron Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family.
Shelagh was a rescue dog advocate who was more than just a dog lover. Her love for these animals was not only contagious, but also admirable.
Her eyes would light up anytime she talked about her rescue initiatives, and her anecdotes about the dogs she assisted were always full with love and pride.
She formed a special bond with each dog she met. However, her attachment with Reggie, her own rescue dog, was amazing.
Their bond was a tribute to the transformative power of love and generosity, demonstrating that every dog, regardless of its background, deserves a chance at a happy life.
Shelagh was a regular at Cassels Park, always holding a leash and a bag of dog goodies in one hand. Her spirit was contagious, and her warm, friendly nature endeared her to both humans and dogs.
She was a vital member of our community, and her absence will be felt by those who knew her. Her daily excursions in the park, joyful greets, and unconditional love for all dogs will be dearly missed.
As we mourn the passing of this extraordinary woman, we must recall the joy she brought into our lives. She taught us the necessity of compassion, the worth of second chances, and the unrivaled love that exists between humans and dogs.
Let us continue to champion the cause Shelagh was passionate about: rescuing and caring for pets in need. Let’s make sure Reggie gets the love and care he deserves, just like Shelagh would have.
During this terrible time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Shelagh’s family. May they find solace in the knowledge that her spirit continues on in the innumerable lives she touched, both human and canine.
