Manu Rios Deepfake Viral Video Circulating Online

A digital video featuring Manu Rios has been widely circulated on social media platforms. The video falsely portrays Rios in a compromising situation.

Manu Rios achieved acclaim for his portrayal of Mauricio Martínez in the Spanish television drama ‘Chiringuito de Pepe’ in 2014. His international recognition soared with his role as Patrick Blanco in the fourth through sixth seasons of ‘Elite’ in 2021. His talent has been further acknowledged with a nomination for ‘Best TV Actor at the 2022 Fotogramas de Plata’ for his work in ‘Elite’.

Following his appearance at the 2022 Met Gala, Rios was cast in Netflix’s gothic thriller ‘El Silencio’ (Muted) and took on the lead role in the film adaptation of Nando Lopez’s bestselling novel ‘La edad de la Ira’. In this film, he plays Marcos, a youth navigating a tumultuous home life and facing serious accusations. Additionally, Rios appeared in Pedro Almodóvar’s short film ‘Strange Way of Life’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023.

Deepfake videos have become increasingly prevalent, with such content often being indistinguishable from original videos. This has raised concerns among public figures about their potential misuse. Earlier this year, actor Robert Pattinson expressed unease over similar deepfake videos of himself that had appeared on TikTok.

Upon discovering the misleading video, Rios contacted his private social media account to address the situation directly. He stated unequivocally that the video was not real and commented on the sometimes bizarre and unsettling nature of the internet. Fans of the actor rallied around him, reporting the video to ensure its prompt removal from online platforms.
