According to an affidavit obtained by the AP,  the suspect has been charged with burglary and two weapons charges.

In a shocking incident at St. John the Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun, Father Stephen Gutgsell, a respected priest, was reportedly assaulted within the premises of the church’s rectory. In a swift response to the emergency, the individual dialed 911, prompting the arrival of authorities at approximately 5:00 a.m.

In a shocking incident, authorities discovered Gutgsell in a state of distress, with visible stab wounds on his face and body. The distressing scene unfolded in the rectory kitchen, where the suspect, identified as Kierre L. Williams, was found atop Gutgsell. The individual was taken to the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where, tragically, they succumbed to their injuries. According to local media reports, the individual in question was reported to be 65 years old.

In a significant development, the murder weapon has been discovered in close proximity, specifically in a separate bedroom.

In the affidavit, Deputy Brady Tucker reported that upon his arrival at the residence, he discovered that the door had been forcibly opened. Upon identifying himself as a member of the Sheriff’s Office, the individual reportedly heard a cry for assistance emanating from the kitchen. The voice allegedly identified the presence of an intruder within the residence.

In a recent development, it has been reported that Williams has been apprehended and subsequently taken into custody. The individual in question was then transferred to a county correctional facility for further processing.

The nature of the suspect’s relationship to Gutgsell remains uncertain, however, according to the affidavit, the killing was premeditated and carried out intentionally during the course of a burglary.

In a surprising revelation, it has been discovered that Williams, contrary to popular belief, is not a resident of Fort Calhoun. Instead, he hails from Sioux City, Nebraska, a staggering 75 miles away. This new information sheds light on Williams’ true place of origin, leaving many to wonder about the reasons behind this discrepancy.

In a recent statement, Tucker revealed that he swiftly discovered Williams’ criminal background and outstanding warrants from various states immediately after apprehending him.
